Additional information
Research area
The group of Professor Danilo Pescia was involved in developing novel Electron based imaging technologies. These technologies exploit the vicinity (few 10 nm) of the primary electron source to the target in order to perform low energy, lensless (spin resolved) electron microscopy. In 2021, the Besselbox technology, developed within a European project (SIMDALEE2) by research groups at the University of York (UK) and our group at ETHZ, has been implemented within a STM-SFEM and STM-SFEMPA environment, with the purpose of performing energy resolved electron imaging. This kind of integrated instrument has never been realized before. The observations regarding spin polarized imaging will be published in Appl. Phys. Lett. in 2022 (accepted for publication). The two instruments of energy resolved SFEM and energy resolved SFEMPA have been transferred to York University (S.Tear), respectively Universita degli Studi di Milano (G. Rossi) and will be integrated in their research activities. Further STM/AFM microscopes and accessories will be transferred to Sumy University (Ukraine) and integrated in the scientific activities of Prof. Protsenko.
